With IoT devices like Nest thermostats, connected cars, smart refrigerators, home security systems, and even smart locks, you can add a little something to your life.
Now it’s getting smarter.
In a new research paper, researchers at Princeton University and Google have outlined a novel way to make this work.
The team built a way to integrate IoT devices into an existing network.
They found that a smart refrigerator connected to a smart home network could be used to control the temperature of a room by monitoring its temperature with sensors on the refrigerator’s front and the back of the house.
This network also has the advantage of having a simple interface that could be easily adapted for other types of IoT devices.
“In the future, smart appliances will become a vital part of your daily life, and they will provide access to everything you need, at a great price,” said Christopher Lattner, a senior lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Princeton and co-author of the research paper.
“That’s why it’s so important that smart devices, including refrigerators and other IoT devices, can be connected to the Internet of Things.”
